I am an Ofsted registered childminder and was delighted to be awarded an Outstanding from Ofsted on my last inspection in February 2015. I'm a busy mum of two children aged 17 and 19 and am happily married. I currently look after several lovely young children (part time) and always welcome enquiries.
I have been a registered childminder since 2006. Having previously worked in accounts with a local social landlord I found that registering as a childminder was a solution to my own childcare needs. Working with children was always something I wanted to do and I've looked after children in the family since I was young. I've also worked at several pre school nurseries but wanting to spend more time at home with my own children prompted me to register as a childminder so I got the best of both worlds, being at home for my own two and looking after other people's children! Obviously now both my children have grown up but we still enjoy welcoming children into our family. I really enjoy being a childminder and feel that I have been so lucky to be able to have all the children I have looked after over the years.
I work with several registered and approved assistants, and we work together to provide a warm home environment for your little ones. My husband and children are also my registered and approved assistants. They have all been confirmed as suitable to work with children by Ofsted, have enhanced DBS checks and my husband and daughter have the appropriate first aid training required by Ofsted.
I live in nice sized house, with a nice sized garden, with a dedicated playroom where we have lots of lovely toys and spend our days doing whatever the children would like as well as planned activities, i.e. cooking, painting, reading along with visits to farms, parks, playgroups, etc. I follow the EYFS and carry out regular observations on children in my care. I attend local playgroups, though more often than not the children choose how they want to spend their days! We also on occasion meet up with other mummies and childminders so that children can gain maximum benefit of socialising of others in their own age group.
As well as doing regular training courses I have completed the Surrey County Council Early Years Quality Improvement Award. We sadly lost our rabbits but we do have a lovely fish tank with some beautiful tropical fish. Our home is a smoke free zone too.
If you feel that I could help you with your childcare arrangements please don't hesitate to contact me and we can arrange a visit or use the contact form if you have any queries or want to discuss to requirements. Please check out our Facebook page Jo's Little Angels to see pictures of our setting and what we get up to!
I'm with PACEY for public liability, have details on the Surrey County Council Website and the PACEY site, 'ichild'. I am also able to claim for FEET funding and am registered to receive funding from Surrey County Council for children who are 3 and 4. Please see my fees details and also the Surrey County Council website for more information. I can also claim childcare vouchers (though the scheme is now closed to new applicants) and accept payments via the tax free childcare scheme.
